5 “And Peter took up
the conversation, saying, ‘Master, it is good and beautiful for us to be here.
Let us make three booths, one for You, one for Elijah and one for Moses.’ 6
For he did not really know what to say, for they were frightened. 7 And
a cloud threw a shadow on them and a voice out of the cloud spoke, saying, ‘This
is My beloved Son. Be constantly listening to and obeying Him.”
What a glorious experience for Peter, James
and John. Emotions would have been high, fear, joy maybe even pride. “What to
say, what to do to capture this moment?” Therefore, Peter blurts out something,
anything to fill the moment. Then God speaks and gives instruction for life.
In this day we are living in, when emotions can
run at an all-time high, God is still speaking and giving us instructions to
bring forth life. How many times do I stumble for words, even actions in an
emotional moment? Words can sound good; Peters did, “Build a monument, capture
the moment.” However, where are they coming from doing what we know? Do they
emerge from the moment and not achieving much, sounding good, even like wisdom?
However, am I listening to God? Do I hear the words of Jesus amidst the clamour
and clatter of the moment?
Jesus has given me
ears to hear, but am I listening? God says, “Listen to Jesus and obey.” Emotion
will never sustain, but the Word of Life will. So, let our words not just be right
words, but God words. Let us not be quick to answer with just anything, but to
hear the voice of Jesus speaking Words of Life. We are called to be bearers of
GOOD NEWS.
“So, Holy Spirit help
us in this time to be your voice of wisdom and hope to those who are searching
for an answer that will bring them wisdom and hope!”
