I am so
grateful that my Father in heaven is openly generous in His exchanges with me.
The Bible is filled with promises and stories of restoration and redemption
that have been written for generations to understand the nature of the Creator.
He takes my brokenness and makes me whole. He restores my shattered heart with
comfort and healing. The Old Testament prophet, Isaiah wrote that our God
delights:
“…to comfort all who mourn, To care
for the needs of all who mourn…give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes,
Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a
praising heart instead of a languid spirit.”(Isaiah 61:3-4 The Message Bible)
I read this
incredible account some time ago about an area in Sydney that I have personally
visited many times. Unimaginable to anyone who may have wanted to visit the
same site in previous generations because of its dangerously polluted state.
The author wrote:
“Two hundred years ago a beautiful
bay in Sydney formed an estuary surrounded by inter tidal mudflats fringed with
mangroves, saltmarshes and woodlands. In those early years of European
settlement the mudflats were seen as an inconvenience and as early as the mid
1880’s they were drained, cleared and retaining walls were built to exclude
tidal waters. This created space for agriculture and industries such as flour
and fabric mills, brickworks and abattoirs.
The waste waters from these
industries turned the Bay waters black and its ground leaked toxins. By 1990 it
was probably one of the most toxic sites in Australia with its polluted ground
water and contaminated soils – a legacy of an extensive period of time of
municipal and industrial waste being dumped there. By 1992 the rubbish dump of
oil, garbage, chemical and foundry waste measured 18metres high.
This site became the focus of the
entire world when the Olympic Games was held in this Bay – Homebush Bay.
Millions of dollars over almost a 10 year period cleaned it up but the toxins
are hidden now under a metre of clay hopefully not to leach out in the future.”

As I read
this again, Isaiah spoke to me again afresh with the words of my Father in
heaven who takes my toxic, polluted life and exchanges it for a life filled
with purpose, focus and energy. His transactions are always going to be for our
good.
