There are moments in our lives when we experience difficulties. We can
experience loneliness, we can feel discouraged and down. When I look back on my
own life I have found that I’m often trusting in my own strength, energy,
natural skills and abilities. This often leads to discouragement,
disappointment and a feeling of failure and vulnerability. When we attempt to
reach our potential relying on our own human resources alone, we set ourselves
up for failure. And the more we fail, the more disappointed and discouraged we
can become.
We need to trust God to help us become the person He has called and
designed us to be. One author suggests that we ask God these four great
questions everyday:
Question # 1 – What do you want
me to do?
We need to ask the Holy Spirit each day to reveal to us what He desires
for us to do for that specific day. We need to be open to the promptings of the
Holy Spirit. Trust his guidance and direction.
Question # 2 – How do you
want me to act?
Ask the Holy Spirit to show us how we are to accomplish the goals He
sets before us each day. For each of these goals, God has a specific plan,
method and purpose. In the midst of it all He just may be working on something
specific in your life.
Question # 3 – When do you
want me to act?
Don’t get ahead of God, or lag behind. His timetable is precise. Ask
the Holy Spirit to reveal his timetable to you. Patience may be part of the
lesson!
Question # 4 – How do I best
represent you today?
We influence others by our presence as well as through what we do and
say. We must be Christlike in order to reflect God in a way that brings glory
to His name.
Take a step of faith this week and pencil these four great questions
into your diary each day. It just may be time for God to help refocus,
reenergise and redirect your life into new opportunities. They may be waiting
for you just beyond each question!
