Do you realise
that God is minutely interested in your concerns about the planet, environment,
family, political issues, refugees? He is. He actually wants to re-sensitise
the spirit of humanity to realise that our concerns are actually birthed out of
compassion. A desire to help others out of their circumstances into something
more profitable for their lives. Compassion is a godly characteristic enlivened
in the hearts of those who have encountered Jesus.
Equally, God is
incredibly interested in your career. Going to work each day should never
become something that we don’t recognise as an opportunity to impact the physical
and spiritual environment of those we work amongst. Jesus called us to be the
salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13). The Apostle Paul actually tells us that:
“Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for
the Lord rather than for men knowing that from the Lord you will receive the
reward…” (Colossians 3:23-24)
As you allow the
Holy Spirit to cultivate and realign your heart to see as He sees, you begin to
recognise a multitude of opportunities to act toward others with compassion
within your workplace, amongst your colleagues and friends. Your career could
strategically set you in the places God has crafted for you to make a
difference. What you are doing right now could be exactly what God created for
you to impact.
You have been
called by God to represent Him in every sphere of your life. Timothy says:
“God is the one who saved and called
us with a holy calling. This wasn’t based on what we have done, but it was
based on his own purpose and grace that he gave us in Christ Jesus before time
began.” (2 Timothy 1:9 CEB)
God is minutely interested in the wellbeing of our planet,
our nation, and the people of our world. He calls you and me to act on His
behalf to bring His love, grace, mercy and compassion to those we come across
in the various activities of our lives. See each day as an opportunity to
change the world through one conversation at a time, one act of kindness, one
contribution of compassion. There’s probably an opportunity waiting for you
right now.
