Spirit Empowered Tongue Continued by Ps Michael Podhaczky

Last week it was suggested that a good place to start bringing the tongue under the control of the Holy Spirit, is to realise that the tongue speaks what is in the heart. Next it was suggested that we need to be proactive in continually asking the Holy Spirit to be in control of our heart and tongue. However, there is something else that we can do to have a Spirit empowered tongue. That is be baptised in the Holy Spirit and let our tongue speak in the heavenly prayer language.

Yes, especially in the light of what was promised in Acts 1:8,
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 NLT).
Speaking in different tongues was recorded as actually happening in Acts 2:1-4. From that time on the church began to explode in growth and the Holy Spirit was working through the Christ-followers to do miraculous things. But did that stop them using the tongue sinfully? No, because they remained human and the tongue battled to speak the old hellish language. However, as is the same for us, it was crucial to remember that had their tongue crucified, and needed to submit their tongue to the Holy Spirit moment by moment.

So, remember that,
My old self has been crucified with Christ (the tongue included). It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal 2:20 NLT).
Therefore, remember that the secret of a controlled tongue is not self-control, but Holy Spirit control. So, pray, pray, pray in your heavenly prayer language, especially when you don’t know what to say or pray (Rom 8:26-27).
“Be sure to taste your words, before you spit them out.”[1]
