Life can be busy, particularly leading into Christmas and the New Year. How easy it is for us to get caught up in the demands and busy nature of life. Yet, Romans 8:24-25 outlines something that is important for us to allow to speak into our heart, soul and mind.

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God” - (Romans 8:24-25)

It is through Christ; everything is through and because of Christ. We are justified through Him, we have faith through Him, we rejoice even when it is difficult through Him and we have hope and salvation through Him. We do not obtain these things by our own efforts but through Christ.  

Therefore, we need to pause from the busyness of life. We need to stop striving, slow down, relax and breathe. Breathe and rest in God, rest in knowing that all things are through and for Him. Breathe and rest for He is carrying us, He is sustaining us and He invites us to live daily in the freedom of His love.

My prayer in this busy season is that we can let go of the need to control, the need to achieve and the need to constantly be doing something so that we may fully experience God’s love and grace. May we recognise that it is only through this love and grace that we have salvation, and there nothing we can do or no place we can go that will separate us from His love.

May the Lord give you peace and space to breathe and rest in His love.
