In the previous blog, we were
asked to,
“Stop for a moment and think about
yesterday? What was it like, were you rushing here and there? Did you lose your
inner peace, because of your external world? Was yesterday like that for you? Honestly,
we have all been in this situation. What about today? How is it going up to now?”
How did you find this
week in light of having read this blog? Well, continuing with the idea of peace,
Paul had something to address within the local church at Philippi. That is, he
pointed out that they could either have anxiety or peace; it was their choice. See
the following,
6 “Do not be
anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the
peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6-7 ESV).
Notice Paul said to them, “Do not be anxious about anything,” that
is possibly because they were anxious about anything and everything. Instead of
this, he said to pray about things with a thankful focus. Paul also said that
they were to “make their requests to God.” This was possibly because they were
making them know to everyone and anyone other than God.
This result of doing this would be that the Peace of God would stand guard over their hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. It is a bit like
the Grenadiers outside of Buckingham Palace where the Queen of England lives.
They stand guard, and we cannot get in without an invitation. So to the
Philippians had to give a pass for anxiety to enter their hearts and minds.
That is, for the peace of God to stand aside and let anxiety into them.
Finally, Paul said
that this kind of peace is above any of their understanding. In other words, it
is mind-boggling. It is God who is infinitive in His peace is amid the
situation that is unable to be fathomed by the natural mind. The reason is that
God is limitlessness in who He is, and this includes His peace. Words fail to
express His peace, and so they were to accept it and rest in Him by faith. What
about you, do live in anxiety or peace it is your choice?
Pause
in His presence for a moment and think this over…
