If an interviewer were to talk to someone close to us about
what they think about us, what would they say about us? Wow, now that’s scary.
We can all have an idea as to who we think we are and how we come across to
those around us. But is this what others would say about us?
Would they say that we
are loving, kind, generous, gracious, patient, etc. Or would they say that, we
are a jerk to our spouse, family or friends when no one is looking. Would they
call us a gossip, stingy, impatient, and even downright rude?
Pause in His presence for a moment and
think this over…
Paul was able to say to the local church
at Corinth,
“And you should
imitate me, just as I imitate Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1 NLT).
Could we say the same thing, or better
still could those closest to us say that about us to the interviewer? On the one hand, this can be a scary prospect.
However, on the other hand, why should it be scary,
if we are attempting to live a Christ-like life? We should live and speak at
home behind closed doors as we would live and talk
outside.
Here is an experiment that we may want to do. Go and ask
some of our family, work colleagues or sports friend for some honest feedback
as to what
they think about us. Tell them to be as straightforward as possible. Would they
say that they imitate us, just as we are imitating
Christ? Or would they say the complete opposite? I dare you to try
this experiment.
Pause in His presence for a moment and
think this over…
