Wisdom and Its Source by Michael Podhaczky

As Christ-followers, where do we get wisdom for everyday life? We can try to acquire wisdom from various sources, and experience will tell us that some wisdom is better than others. But there is one source of wisdom that has stood the test of time. This source is the Bible as the supernatural Word of God. His words are eternal and profound in their quality and quantity.

The book of Proverbs probably stands as one of the greatest collections of God’s wisdom given to humanity. The book of Proverbs declares on this matter,

13 “How blessed is the person who finds wisdom and the person who gains understanding. 14 For her profit is better than the profit of silver and her gain better than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire compares with her. 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honour. 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who hold her fast.” (Prov 3:13-18 NASB).

We all need to stay on top of this matter since we can quickly get side-tracked as seek wisdom in other places. This is one reason that we need to be continually reading God’s word. Since it is our best source of wisdom that is

“…first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy” (Jas 3:17 NASB).

How is your store of wisdom at the moment, do you need to persist in an area? If someone were to come to you for some wisdom right now with no warning, what would you give them? Are you able to open up your storeroom of wisdom that you have received from God and dispense it? Or else would you be caught off guard and give earthly wisdom?

Pause in His presence for a moment and think this over…
