5 “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make
the most of every opportunity. 6
Let your conversation be gracious and attractive (seasoned with salt) so
that you will have the right response for everyone” (Col 4:5-6 NLT).
30 “And stop
bringing sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live! Remember, He has
identified you as His own, by guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of
redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, explosive rage, anger,
harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behaviour! 32
Instead, become kind to each other, tender-hearted! Be freely forgiving
one another, just as God through Christ has freely forgiven you” (Eph 4:17-32,
NLT)
As a
son or daughter of the heavenly Father, you need to have conversations that are
different in content, motive and purpose to those that do not Know Him. Stop,
and think about the conversations that you’ve had over the past week. Have you
been gracious and attractive to those around you, or harsh and slanderous? Do
you realise that what you say can and does have consequences; some which can
reach much further than we realise. This can be particularly relevant when
communicating through various technologies that you use daily, as part of the
information superhighway. Do you need to be more intentional about having God-honouring conversations as you use the
various technologies?
Pause in His presence for a moment and think this over… To
be continued.
