There are some things that every Christ-follower needs to know, understand and do as part of following Jesus Christ, and being a part of His body. For example, it is important to know what we believe regarding our faith, why we believe these truths, and how we should live out our lives in light of these truths. This is actually considered a worldview; an understanding and awareness of the world in which we live from a biblical point of view. The biblical worldview in the above-mentioned three areas highlight the importance of; knowing what we believe regarding our faith, why we believe these truths, and how we should live out our lives in light of these truths.

The three areas need to flow on after one another. Firstly, think about what aspects are a part of faith/what ideas are relevant to Christianity. Secondly, then think about why they are important aspects. Then lastly that leads me to what have a belief in them. This list below is not exhaustive, but rather intended to provoke some thinking on the matter.

1.    What do we believe?

As Christ-followers, we have some central beliefs; God, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, the Bible, salvation, spiritual warfare and prayer, the Church and Jesus’ return, to mention some. Once we think that have some understanding of these areas, we need to ask why we believe in these.

2.    Why do we believe?

It is also important to know why we believe in these central ideas; in truth, God, that Jesus is God, in the Bible, the love and mercy of God in spite of crisis and pain etc. Then once we have some understanding of why we believe these, we then come to the challenge of living in light of these beliefs.

3.    How should we live?

As Christ-followers we need to know how to live in light of these central beliefs. For example, how do we know how to maintain spiritual health, understand the role of faith in my life, overcome spiritual snares, pray and know God’s will, and discover how to share my faith?

So, how are we to put these things into practice on a daily basis? Where do we go from here? What action can we take RIGHT NOW? What are we prepared to do or to change so what we may put this new knowledge into practice in real-life situations? It is time to develop real-life solutions and processes from what has been said and apply it to our own real-world problems, issues etc. The central objective here is to work towards fulfilling the PenCC mission. That is, to be able to:

“Actively engage in reaching and renewing people through the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ to see them equipped, empowered, and released as reproducing disciples.”
