The Greatest Story Ever Told Part One by Ps Michael Podhaczky

What’s the greatest story you have ever heard? Maybe it’s something from your childhood, or something that you have seen on the news. These stories can inspire and encourage us to go on and live better lives.

The greatest story ever told would have to be the coming of Jesus Christ. But, where does the story of Jesus Christ begin? For many it was in an animal’s feeding-box in the stall in Bethlehem, Lk 1:13. For others it was one year before the birth of Jesus when Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and promised a son (John the baptiser), Lk 1:5-25. Luke said that John would be a prophet Lk 1:14-1, which had already been prophesied over 400 years earlier, Mal 4:5-6. But this was still not the beginning of the greatest story.

For others, it was Luke’s legal family line of Jesus, Lk 3:23-37. While Luke did understand that, that it began with the story of humankind, as Jesus son of Adam, was the Son of God, this was still not the beginning of the story. To find the beginning of the greatest story ever told, we need to look beyond time into eternity, Gen 1:1. The story is about Jesus Christ, which begun in eternity, Jn 1:1. The story is God’s eternal story.

Therefore, God sent His messenger to Zachariah to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of all, Lk 1:13,31; Matt 1:21. God was beginning to speak again, as it had been a 400 year silence by God, Lk 1:13,22,68. He had prepared the way for the final and fulfilling step and sent Jesus Christ to redeem His people in eternity.

Can I encourage you to see the proper story of the Bible? To see how the whole Bible fits together as one. This is the story of the Bible and not just stories. Can you see the eternalness of the greatest story ever told and how it impacts you?
