Jesus
Christ is coming back again. We do not hear much about this biblical truth, but
that does not mean that it will not happen. Some may make fun of this, just as
Peter had to deal with this in his day (2 Pet 3:4). The second coming of Jesus
is a real event that will take place whether people believe it or not. It will
be a literal and physical event, as pointed out by the angels (Acts 1:11, 12).
As
Christ-followers we ought to believe in this great truth. We need to be able to
say with John the apostle “Come Lord Jesus!” (Rev 22:20). While we may not
always agree on the details or the sequencing of the events, we still need to agree
that He is coming back.
It could be asked “When is He comes back again?” An honest answer would be: “No one knows the
timing of His coming” (see Matt
24:36; Acts 1:7). However, the Bible does offer some suggestions that there
would be an interval between His first and second comings. In fact, Matthew 25:19 recorded Jesus saying
(in the parable of the talents) that the Master returns after a long time (see also 2 Peter 3:3-9;
Matt 24:14). So we need to be aware not to be caught off guard by His coming. We
need to be vigilant and expectant, and
live a life of holy expectation in light of
the anytime appearance of the Jesus Christ.
Are
you honestly able say right now, “Come Lord Jesus!” (Rev 22:20).
