As Christ-followers we are all called
to make other followers of Jesus (disciples) as commanded in Matt 28:19 “Therefore,
go and make disciples of all the nations…” (NLT). This is an undeniable fact, but often we can wonder how to do this
very thing. In making and discipling followers of Jesus, there are two features
that stand out that we can do today.
The first thing that we can do is to help the person to study and read the
Bible. A great way to do this is to read it together and discuss it. This can
help others become a Christ-follower or assist those
who are already disciples to grow in their faith. However, it will take
courage to do these two things, but we need to remember God is with us in this life-forming
exercise.
If we are to do this, who should
we look for to help study and read the Bible to either become a Christ-follower
or help grow as one? We simply need to open our eyes to see who God has placed
around us and then reach out to them and walk with them in this process. Too many times we want to go to faraway places to do something for God, yet miss those who are already in our lives. Now don’t get me wrong - sometimes
we can be sent to the faraway places - but often we can miss the obvious ones.
I have recently listened to a chat on this matter between pastors David
Platt and Francis Chan. They offered some helpful tips and how to’s for doing
these things mentioned above. Why not log on to the following link and watch
the chat as I think that you will find it helpful:

Pause in His presence for a
moment and think this over…
