Have
you ever stopped and thought about your day? You know, why do you do what you
do and what motivates you throughout your day? Most of us can rush through our
day, moving from one task or person to another without ever stopping to reflect
on our motivation. So, just for a moment let us stop and reflect on yesterday.
What did you think that you just had
to do and why did you have to do it? What was the pace of the day like; was it
calm and controlled or flat-out and full of stressful moments one after
another? Who was in control of your day? Was it those around you, or your have-to-do lists, or you?
Pause
in His presence for a moment and think this over…
As Christ-followers, we are told that,
“For
you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Col 3:3
ESV).
But what does this mean in a fast
moving world? Well, this is our reality. This
is a place from where we can live as it
governs how we live our life. The world around us was never intended to be something that is propelled forward into chaos, not by those
around us or our to-do-lists; we do not ‘have’ to do things. Remember, we can
always choose to do things from a place of rest in Jesus Christ.
From the very second that we were born
again, made brand new, were transformed (whatever language we chose to use), we
entered into a new realm. That is, the
Kingdom of God where we are one in Christ. Whether we feel like it or not, this
has been our reality from the very second we received this new life. From that
moment we became citizens of this realm, and
we have never left it. We are in Christ and Christ is in us, Col 3:11. So if
this is the case, why do we rush through our day, moving from one task or
person to another without ever stopping to reflect on our motivation?
Pause in His presence for a moment and
think this over…
