In
the previous blog, we stopped and thought about our yesterday, asking, ‘why do we
do what we do and what motivates us throughout our day’? Having had some time
to think about this, it is essential to
realise that we only have one shot at each day. So, once it is gone, well, we
are not getting it back for a second go at it. This
should motivate us to suck every moment out of our day as a gift from the Lord.
However, we need to do it from a place
contentment in Christ.
As Paul said to the church in Philippi,
“I
have learned in whatever situation I am to be content” (Phil 4:11b ESV).
But
what did he mean by this statement? Well, this was Paul’s reality in Christ. This is the place
where he lived, and it governed how he lived. That is, He was living from the position of being content in Christ, whatever
came his way. He had enough whether he had or did not have any aid or support.
He was not reliant on external circumstances
but was inwardly contented being at rest in the Kingdom of God. Remember, in
the last blog; it was mentioned that, we can always choose to do things from this
place of rest in Jesus Christ.
This is the framework for a verse that we
often take out of context i.e.
“And
my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in
Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19 ESV).
This had nothing to do with God being his
genie in a bottle, to summon when he wanted something. It was about being at
rest in Christ as his source of contentment, whether he had or did not have his
wants. So, as was mentioned in the last blog, from the very second that we were
born again, we entered into a new realm, the Kingdom of God. We are in the
richness of Christ, and the abundance of Christ is in us.
Pause in His presence for a moment and
think this over…
