Stand in Awe Part 1 - by Ps Michael Podhaczky

Have you ever just watched an infant experience the world around them? Everything is exciting and open to exploration. We can learn so much by just watching them engage with the world around them. They can be so excited and squeal with delight with the simplest things. They can stand in a state of awe of things like their mum and dad, Christmas lights, a butterfly flitting around etc. The ordinary turn out to be amazing through the eyes of a young child.

What about you, have you lost the awe of life and all that is around you? We can tend to flatten things out in life. It has been said that,

“Part of becoming an adult is learning how to lower your expectations - of your loved ones, of yourself, of particularly charged moments (Your wedding day! New Year’s Eve! That long-awaited vacation!).”[1]

But why should that be the case? Because as the article went on to state,

“And yet, the paradox is that there’s something that sort of transcends maturity about being open to the potential pleasure of every single moment.”[2]

When was the last time you stood in awe of the fantastic Creator’s handiwork in creation? Or the last time you were awestruck by the truth that you are a child of God. Maybe the truth that He loves you so much that He sent His own Son to bring us into a relationship with Him overawed you? Perhaps it’s time you just stood in Awe.

“Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, You inspire shouts of joy” (Ps 65:8 NLT).
Pause in His presence for a moment and think this over…
