Looking out the Window by Michael Podhaczky

If we sit and look out of our window, we have a scene unfolding right in front of us. There may be leaves on the ground, trees blowing in the wind, clouds in the sky, birds flying by the house across the street, we may see people walking past. As we sit watching the view through the window in front of us, this should be our focus. For some, they may not be interested in focusing on what is right there in front of them. Instead, they might become preoccupied with the view of others and miss what is right in front of them at that moment what is there ‘present’.

Life can be like that sometimes. We can become so fixated with the view of others, what others have or their vocation or calling. So much so that, we are unable to see what is right in front of us. We waste our lives trying to be, see, or live like others and lose the present moment that we have been gifted. Have you ever found yourself in that position? We want what they have; we want to be where they are, or we think, “why can’t I be like them”? It has been said,
“There’s a world out there, open the window and there it is.”[1]

We all have been given a life to live. So, why are we more concerned about how others are doing their life. Paul gave the local church at Emphasis some direction this matter. That,
15 “Therefore be careful (look carefully) how you walk, not as unwise people, but as wise, 16 making the most of your time (or redeeming the time) because the days are evil” (Eph 5:15-16 NASB).
If you were to look out the window of your life (so to speak), right now: What do you see that God is doing? Not what He has done, or will do (as important as these might be), but what He is doing at present. Make the most of this time, as it will never come around again.
Pause in His presence for a moment and think this over…
